Several people have been killed and several more injured in a shooting incident at the Kronospan timber processing works in the village of Menznau in canton Lucerne, the police have confirmed.
They said the shooting occurred shortly after 9 a.m.
No precise details about the number of victims are yet available, and it is not yet clear who the gunman was. The police have set up a hotline for relatives of the workers.
The police said the area had been cordoned off, and that rescue services were on the spot. They promised further updates later.
The Rega helicopter rescue service has flown four seriously injured people to hospital, the Swiss News Agency reported.
